Congressman David Price visits TROSA
03-04-2008

Durham, N.C. – TROSA (Triangle Residential Options for Substance Abusers), a Durham, North Carolina 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 1994, is pleased to announce that Congressman David Price visited TROSA today to meet with his constituents who are in treatment and to tour the campus facilities. Congressman Price was integral to helping TROSA receive HUD funding that resulted in the construction of two new apartment buildings on TROSA’s James Street campus.

Each of the apartment buildings houses 12 TROSA program participants who are nearing completion of the two-year program. The goal is to build enough housing for 250 residents to stay on the James Street Campus, and more improvements are planned to see it through. “We have never had to turn anyone away for lack of space, and we hope we never will,” says Kevin McDonald, founder and CEO, adding, “We are honored to host Congressman Price for this tour and thank him for his ongoing support of people in recovery.”

For people who are struggling to overcome severe substance abuse, safe and affordable housing can make the difference between success and failure. If a person is living in a supportive and drug-free environment, they are more able to focus on changing their behaviors and getting the life and job skills they need in order to transition into a sober, independent life.

Understanding the complex issue of substance abuse requires a multi-faceted approach to treatment. Congressman Price has this understanding. “TROSA offers a way out of addiction,” Price said, “and I am inspired by the dedication of all those making this program a success – one day at a time. The two-year program offers residents the opportunity to regain hope and confidence, and I am proud to play a role in supporting this tremendous work.”

TROSA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving over 400 people daily in its two-year residential substance abuse treatment program. For more information about TROSA’s programs and services, please visit www.trosainc.org.
