TROSA Furniture and Frame Shop Celebrate New Home
TROSA Furniture and Frame Shop celebrated their move to a new home in downtown Durham with a Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on May 2, 2007. Previously located on South Duke Street and James Street, these two businesses now make their home together at 313 Foster Street in downtown Durham. The new location offers a selection of quality used furniture, as well as framed artwork and custom picture framing services. The businesses are operated by TROSA residents and graduates, with all proceeds going to support the program.
The store welcomed over 70 guests to the Grand Opening celebration, including local officials, leaders and members of the community. The program included remarks from TROSA founder and CEO Kevin McDonald, Durham City Manager Patrick Baker, and Mayor Pro Tem Cora Cole-McFadden, who read a mayoral proclamation commending TROSA for its work in the Durham community and declaring the day as Official Grand Opening of the TROSA Furniture & Frame Shop. Representatives from Mechanics & Farmers Bank and Home Depot were on hand to present TROSA with donations to honor the occasion. The program concluded with a ribbon cutting ceremony, after which the guests were ushered inside to browse the merchandise and enjoy refreshments provided by TROSA Catering.
The Grand Opening was the culmination of several months of hard work and preparation. TROSA’s construction crew completely renovated the two story building, located across from the Downtown Durham YMCA. Home Depot – North Pointe offered discounts on building materials to support the project. In addition, the Leadership Durham Class of 2007 sponsored by the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce helped make the Grand Opening a success by planning the entire event and coordinating all marketing and promotion for the new location.
